How we make money

Some links pay us a referral fee. They're listed on the partners page and don't affect the numbers. We don't collect your name, phone or address.

Where the numbers come from

Power prices from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, sunlight from NREL's PVWatts model, and incentive rules from state utility commissions and DSIRE. Details on the methodology page. The data is free to download.

• Nov 7, 2026. City-level sunlight data for 9 cities in CA, NJ and MA. Added a note to pages served by public utilities, which usually charge less than the state average.
